Description
The sand anchor is made of a lightweight yet durable plastic (UV-stabilized), ensuring longevity and resistance to corrosion. Its flat and wide design, with curved edges, allows it to dig deeper into the sand while providing a larger surface area, increasing its holding power.
Anchoring Principle
Surface Area Expansion: The broad and flat shape distributes pressure over a larger sand surface, preventing the anchor from sinking too easily and keeping it stable in the ground.
Angled Insertion: It is crucial that the anchor is not placed vertically but at a slight angle to the pulling force. The sand anchor should be inserted at a 30° to 45° angle to the ground. This way, the force applied to the anchor (e.g., from wind or tension on a tent) is better transferred to the sand.
Attachment: At the top of the sand anchor, there is an opening or hook for attaching ropes or tent lines.
Advantages Over Traditional Pegs
- Lightweight: Plastic anchors are significantly lighter than metal pegs, which is especially beneficial for camping.
- No Rusting: Made of plastic, they are resistant to corrosion from saltwater or moisture.
- Eco-Friendly: SwissPiranha focuses on sustainable materials and environmentally friendly production.
- Easy Handling: Their shape and low weight make them easy to transport and use.
